What is Released Time?

Released Time Bible Education is a unique program whereby students may leave school to attend off-campus Bible classes during the school day.

Is Released Time Legal?

In 1952, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld RTBE programs as legal in all 50 states (Zorach v. Clauson). The three requirements for an RTBE program to be legal are: 1. Parental permission must be given. 2. Instruction must take place off school grounds. 3. No state resources may be used.

Thanks to Representative Dennis Powers, Tennesse has it's own legislation with: TN - HB834 Education - As enacted, authorizes a local school board to create a policy that excuses students who request to attend a released time course in religious moral instruction taught by an independent entity off school property. - Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 2, Part 1. It was signed into law April 28th, 2015.

Why Released Time Bible Education?

Our Youth Need:

Purpose and meaning for their lives beyond the accumulation of wealth or achievement of social and/or professional status.
Safe venues where they can ask deeply challenging and sensitive questions without fear or censure.
Bible education that prepares them to be responsible adults, contributing community citizens and Godly teachers.
